As an undergraduate student, you may have an opportunity to gain research experience by working with a professor. Faculty have researched or investigated:
  • DNA and RNA-based methods (DNA fingerprinting, SYBR Green-based melt curve analyses, and real-time RNA amplification) for pathogen detection in foods
  • biology and efficacy of fungal microbial pesticides (bioherbicides) of weeds
  • optimizing yields of industrial fermentations utilizing response surface methodology (RSM)
  • integrated pest management (IPM) of fruit, vegetable, and ornamental diseases
  • effects of microbial infection on T- and B-lymphocyte function in vitro and in vivo in wild-type and transgenic mice expressing altered proteins
