Drawing is a fundamental and indispensable component of any comprehensive studio arts curriculum. Our drawing concentration focuses on skill development, conceptual development, and applied methodologies. We regard drawing as both a traditional and a contemporary area of study.
What You Will Study
The drawing concentration begins with fundamental concepts and practice and proceeds through a directed sequence of studio experiences, including figure drawing, to more advanced studies. You will study the contextual, historical, and stylistic aspects of drawing as an integral part of the curriculum.
Analytical and critical thinking are stressed and interdisciplinary, collaborative studies are encouraged. Traditional drawing materials such as pen, pencil, and charcoal are supplemented by a broad range of nontraditional mark-making media.
