Associate Teaching Professor of Art
Raised in central Africa in the countries of Ruwanda, Burundi, and Zaire until 13 years of age, René Church had a very interesting upbringing. His educational experience includes going to a French speaking school, boarding school in Kenya, home schooling and then high school and college in the United States.
His work experience includes working in Napa Valley California in a print shop and then owning and operating a printing business with his wife in St. Helena California. For 6 years they were missionaries in Zambia where René Church managed a printing press. For the past 15 years he has been teaching printing, first with Vincennes University in Elkhart Indiana and then here at Ball State University.
One of the strong points of his teaching method has been the aspect of hands on knowledge and experience shared in the classroom. In 2009 he was given the Outstanding Teacher position in the Department of Technology.
