Janice Shimizu, AIA, is an Assistant Professor of Architecture and a partner at Shimizu + Coggeshall Architects. Within the department of Architecture, she teaches integrated design studio, professional practice, and design methodologies. She is the co-coordinator of Muncie Makes Lab and was co-recipient of the 2016-2020 Academic Excellence grant through which CAP Makes Muncie Makes was developed.

Janice is a founding member of Exhibit Columbus and was an associate curator for the 2020-21 cycle, New Middles: From Main Street To Megalopolis, What Is The Future Of The Middle City? Through these opportunities, she explores the nature of design processes, the construction of architecture, and their ability to have consequence in the world. Janice is licensed in California and Indiana. She holds a Masters of Architecture degree from SCI-Arc and graduated from the University of Manitoba Environmental Design program.
