The Department of Biology and the Field Station and Environmental Education Center (FSEEC) held a ceremony on Earth Day 2001 to dedicate the Conifer Garden of Christy Woods to Tim McBride, former caretaker of the property. The conifer garden is being developed as a teaching tool for students studying forestry and as a place of beauty for anyone to visit it. Conifer trees will be planted in appropriate areas throughout Christy Woods, but will be concentrated along the south fence of the open area and in the open area on the north boundary. Conifer Species represented are found on the Christy Woods species page, under trees, shrubs, and vines.
