What do you get when you mix immersive learning, community partnerships, and hard work? In our center, it means recognition.

Our students have been recognized in the Indianapolis Business Journal for their innovative ideas. The students took a look at a visionary transit development around the proposed Nickel Plate Light Rail Line and brainstormed ways to encourage private redevelopment around the stations.

We’ve also been humbled to receive three awards for projects our students worked on. In 2004, we received the Nuvo Cultural Vision Award for our efforts to engage the community in planning. That same year we received a Digital Education Achievement Award from the Center for Digital Education for our work on a Web site to facilitate the Indianapolis Regional Center Plan 2020.

Most recently, we were recognized with a 2010 National Planning Excellence Award from the American Planning Association for our part in a public initiative to establish design review standards for downtown. This project also received a 2009 Hoosier Planning Award from the Indiana Chapter of the American Planning Association.
