Giving Back Through Community Involvement
At Ball State University, part of our mission is to enhance the economic, environmental and social vitality of our community, our state, and our world. We do that, in part, by serving our neighbors in a variety of ways.
As examples, Ball State University students and faculty have worked to solve community challenges with more than 3,300 immersive learning projects over the last 21 years. And just last year, approximately 1,000 Ball State students participated in more than 18,000 hours of community service. Ball State employees have donated several thousand volunteer hours for dozens of Day of Action projects since 2014—while also contributing nearly $1.8 million to the United Way. Further, Ball State’s historic partnership with Muncie Community Schools has helped stabilize enrollment, reward teachers and staff, and raise nearly $4 million in philanthropic support for the district since the inception of the partnership in 2018. It’s a powerful collaboration that, in unprecedented ways, inspires and empowers the next generation.
