Each year the Staff Council works with the Muncie Salvation Army for our Adopt-A-Family philanthropic project. The mission of this project is to adopt one or two local families to help provide their needs for the Christmas season.
For the 2022 season, a total of $1541 in cash donations was received. This money was used to purchase gifts for 11 kiddos and their families. Each child received a set of pajamas, several outfits along with socks, underwear, and at least one pair of shoes. Also purchased were items on the children's wish lists like toys, craft kits, games, kick scooters, and blankets.
We were also able to purchase gift cards to Aldi's for each family and fulfill a request for an artificial tree and ornaments for one family. There were over 200 presents purchased, donated, wrapped, and delivered!
Christine Sprunger, Taysa Hannon, Nick Havranek, and Dee Hoffman delivered gifts on Dec. 20th and Dec. 21st to the families.
The families seemed so thankful and appreciative. We wish we could have captured the joy, gratitude, and overwhelming sense of appreciation that exuded from both families! With tears in their eyes, each family said, "We would not have been able to have Christmas without your help!"
Staff Council couldn't have done any of this without the generosity of the many Ball State employees who donated to this project in some way. Big kudos to the Hospitality Chair Dee Hoffman for organizing this project, to the hospitality committee, and to the rest of Staff Council representatives who shopped, wrapped, and delivered all the gifts!!!
