The
latest available statistics from The Center for Disease Control and Prevention show
about 2,700 people in the United States aged 16–19 were killed and almost
282,000 were treated and released from emergency departments for injuries
suffered in motor-vehicle crashes.
Causes
for the accidents included underestimating dangerous situations, speeding,
not using seat belts, and drinking and driving.
Driving is a skill we all master and improve
upon over time. For a good refresher on
safe driving techniques you may want to take the video Driving Safely. In addition,
you may want to print out checklists on Summer
and Winter Driving, Vehicle Inspection, and Emergency Preparation. The checklists provide useful information
for improving your driving skills, driving cars or vans owned by others, and managing
emergency situations.
