Significant Financial Conflict of Interest

ATTENTION ALL RESEARCHERS: Since the implementation of the Aug 24, 2012 new Significant Conflict of Interest (SFCI) regulatory requirements, many non-Federal organizations and funding groups have adopted (or are adopting) the Federal SFCI disclosure requirements as part of their funding processes.  As such, you may be required to have a SFCI disclosure on record or submitted during the grant application process.  Please check with each funding agency/organization to which you are submitting a grant application, to see if this is a requirement you will need to address.  If yes, please fill out and file the SFCI form available on this website, through channels, to the ORI.  All such submissions will be handled the same way as the Federal SFCI disclosures.

The Office of Research Integrity administers the significant financial conflicts of interest (SFCI) and conflicts of commitment program at Ball State University, the Conflict of Interest program is administered by the Office of Business Affairs. Please be aware that the administration of the Conflict of Commitment program has been moved from the Office of University Compliance to the Office of Research Integrity.

As of August 24, 2012, there have been changes to the Federal Significant Financial Conflict of Interest (SFCI) policy, and all faculty or students engaged in federally funded research are required to submit a SFCI Disclosure Form. Researchers are encouraged to review the Ball State University Significant Financial Conflict of Interest policy before filling out the form. Please be aware that aspects of this policy many change to meet institutional needs and conformity with federal and state guidance.
