These procedures have been placed to ensure that Ball State University is in compliance with State and Federal regulations concerning the use and handling of controlled substances in research and teaching. These procedures apply to all Ball State faculty and staff who utilize controlled substances while teaching or conducting research. Compliance must be accomplished by proper registration with the State of Indiana and the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), record keeping, inventory, security, and handling by University research staff.

Ball State University Faculty utilizing controlled substances in teaching or research contexts must apply for and be licensed under one of two procedures:

  1. Research Registration 
  2. Teaching Registration
