All users of radioactive material must attend a Radiation Safety Training Session each year. The annual training sessions are given in October. Upon request, additional sessions can be scheduled for new users.

University faculty and staff members who wish to become authorized users of radioactive material must seek approval from the radiation safety committee. Applicants must have faculty status, experienced user of radioactive materials, read the Radiation Protection Procedures User's Guide (PDF), and each year undergo radiation safety training. Individuals seeking approval as authorized users should complete and submit to the committee via the radiation safety officer the following forms:

If you need to order radioactive materials, you need to get the approval of the radiation safety officer before the order is sent to purchasing. All radioactive materials are to be delivered to the Radiation Safety Officer.

Upon arrival, the safety officer will document receipt of the item, check for contamination, and immediately transport the shipment to your lab.

Students and laboratory staff who wish to use materials under the supervision of an authorized user must seek approval from the radiation safety officer. To be approved as a supervised user, you must:
