Health Outcomes and Policy Research - Assistant Teaching Professor and Undergraduate Program Director HEP
Lan Yao, PhD, will serve as our Program Director for Health Education and Promotion, where she will be the liaison with CEPH, collecting, analyzing, managing and reporting data needed to maintain accreditation of the program. She recently completed a one year postdoctoral fellowship at University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She earned her doctorate in Health Outcomes and Policy Research from University of Tennessee, previously working at a medical university international office in China as a section chief for about 8 years. She brings experience in research methods, health economics and systems functions, policy development, formulation and analysis, and some experience in biostatistics, epidemiology and data mining. She has implemented quantitative methods, qualitative methods and mixed methods research designs. In addition to Program Director duties she will teach classes based on unit needs, this fall teaching: HSC 180 Principles of Public Health, HSC 387 Quantitative Methods and Epidemiology in Health Promotion, and NUTR 435 Introduction to Research in Nutrition and Dietetics.
