Caitlin Hutchison

Art History - Assistant Teaching Professor


Dr. Caitlin Hutchison specializes in the art and architecture of early medieval Europe, as well as the Byzantine and ancient Roman spheres. Most recently, she was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of York (2021-22). In 2019, she completed a PhD in Art History from the University of Delaware (UD), where she was recognized with the Roger T. and Anna R. Silver Graduate Student Award for Teaching Art History (2015) and the Outstanding Graduate Student Award (2017). Dr. Hutchison’s primary research investigates the design and use of early medieval monuments to claim, maintain, and protect boundaries in the physical and conceptual landscapes of Ireland and Britain and she is currently working on her monograph “The Multivocality of the Cross of the Scriptures: Claiming Victory, Kingship, and Territory in Early Medieval Ireland.”
