Russell Richey
Interior Design - Assistant Lecturer
Russ is a thirty-four-year veteran of the design industry with degrees in Interior Design and Landscape Architecture and a minor in Architectural Illustration from Purdue University. Russ' time in the Design industry has allowed him many opportunities to wear many different hats over the years, ranging from Business Owner (20 years), Architectural Illustrator, Professional Architectural Photographer, Manager of Technical Documents, Client Manager, Millwork Project Manager, Facilities Manager, and Special Projects Manager. He has worked to try them all because he feels experience in different roles rounds a professional. Russ has had the honor of having multiple published projects and has been fortunate enough to have been on teams that have received three Monumental Awards for commercial work in Indiana.
Russ is a huge advocate of the design process and believes that problem solving is life's most important skill. Russ has enjoyed serving as a mentor in professional practice for many years, at many different firms, and served as a full-time Associate Lecturer of Interior Design at IUPUI for two years, in the early 2000s. He has served as a guest lecturer at Ball State University and Purdue University on several occasions and has always yearned to return to teaching.
