Vice President for Business Affairs and Treasurer
Bernard Hannon has served as the vice president for Business Affairs and treasurer since February 2015.
As vice president, Mr. Hannon is responsible for the fiscal management of the university, including budgets, accounts payable and receivable, financial records and investments. Mr. Hannon’s responsibilities also include the university’s physical plant, facilities planning and management, human resources, employee benefits and payroll, dining operations and other auxiliary functions, risk management among other administrative functions. The Division of Business Affairs works very closely with the Division of Governmental Relations and Community Engagement to secure state funding and approvals of appropriate capital projects and other budget related matters.
Mr. Hannon has a diverse background in higher education funding and policy. He has worked as an instructor at a small liberal arts college and a large public university. His experience also includes several years as the assistant state budget director for education, where he was responsible for the multi-billion dollar K-12 and higher education budgets for the state of Indiana. He is also the former chief financial officer of the Indiana Commission for Higher Education, where he was instrumental in helping to draft the state’s higher education strategic plan and drafting the state’s higher education funding policies and budget. Prior to his elevation to vice president, Mr. Hannon served as the associate vice president for Business Affairs and assistant treasurer at Ball State.
Mr. Hannon earned his baccalaureate in International Relations and Russian Language from Florida State University and earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University, Bloomington.
