Nick can trace his passion for writing to the halls of West Quad, when it housed the journalism department. Now, he’s back in West Quad, helping tell stories about the very University that taught him how to tell stories.
His career includes eight years as an award-winning newspaper reporter, covering topics that ranged from crime and corruption to agriculture and education. More recently, he worked for seven years as a senior writer for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, contributing to Outdoor Indiana magazine and handling various public relations tasks.
In his personal life, Nick has yet to meet a leisure activity he doesn’t like. His hobbies include bicycling, hiking, kayaking, camping, boat building and fly fishing, which he picked up through a Ball State Rec Services class several years ago.
Nick has lived most of his adult life in Muncie, although he grew up on a hilltop cattle farm in Southern Indiana. He, his wife and their son and daughter live within walking distance of campus and are regulars at athletic events, the Charles W. Brown Planetarium, and community programs.
