Tim Obermiller

Senior Content Strategist and Magazine Editor

Room:WQ 419

Tim feels fortunate to have covered three different university’s celebrations of milestone anniversaries as a magazine editor — including a special issue of Ball State’s Alumni Magazine marking the University’s Centennial.

He said it was great to learn more about Ball State’s history through research and writing for this issue. And he was struck by how the University’s record of Beneficence and academic excellence has been ingrained from its very beginnings.

Tim was previously managing editor of The University of Chicago Magazine and editor of Illinois Wesleyan University Magazine and has received multiple writing and editing awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. He began his career as a journalist, winning awards from The Associated Press for his investigative and spot-news reporting.

Tim’s interests include film, music, politics, literature, history, pop culture, philosophy, religion, hiking, and animal care/rescue. Since childhood, he has loved writing, including poems and short stories, and is nearly finished with his first novel.
