Bio

In the division of Marketing and Communications at Ball State, Greg leads both the Digital Marketing and University Relations teams. The Digital Marketing team is responsible for the University’s website, internal and external distribution of communications, social media, digital marketing efforts like SEO, and more. The University Relations team is responsible for media relations, press releases, media pitches, blogs, and other forms of writing. Greg also serves as the editor of Ball State's Alumni Magazine, which is distributed to roughly 150,000 alumni twice a year.

Greg joined Ball State University in the Fall of 2020 after a 17-year career in journalism in Muncie. When he departed that field, he was the executive editor of The Star Press in Muncie, the Palladium-Item in Richmond, Ind., and the Journal & Courier in Lafayette, Ind. He served as the editor in Muncie for six years. Before that, he spent time as a digital editor and sports editor in Muncie. In his time leading the three newsrooms, his work focused on storytelling, leadership, digital audience growth, website editing, social media management, metric analysis, community betterment, and more.

Greg is no stranger to Ball State. In addition to working in the Muncie community and at times covering Ball State as a reporter/editor, he is a 2004 graduate of the Journalism Department, now called the School of Journalism and Strategic Communication. He also taught a journalism course in 2018 and previously served on advisory committees in that department.

In his personal life, Greg has two beautiful daughters, and he is married to his high school sweetheart, Julie, who is also a Ball State graduate. He’s a proud owner of a rescued pit bull and the adoptive father of a neighborhood cat. He’s an avid reader and an FAA-certified drone pilot.
