Bio

Although she’s a Muncie native, Sam didn’t “find” Ball State until she visited campus during the Journalism Day (J-Day) program her junior and senior years of high school. That’s when she knew she had a home at Ball State. The homegrown Cardinal received her degrees in journalism, specializing in photography, and English studies in 2015.

Her interest in photography began when she was very little. Her family would go on adventures, disposable cameras in hand, and create a “beauty book” they have continually been working on through the years as they take more vacations. As Samantha grew older, her passion for photography flourished, leading her to be hired into Marketing and Communications in 2016 as the first female full-time staff photographer.

In her spare time, Samantha loves being outdoors, spending time with her family, exploring new and old places, taking hundreds of photographs, practicing mixed martial arts (mostly jiujitsu, with a side of muay thai and jeet kune do) and playing with her rescue dogs Loki, Sadie and Sophie. She also has a cat named Ben, who is more apt to lounge around than play, but that’s OK.
