The Brown Family Amphitheater is a vibrant addition to Ball State University, generously funded by Charles W. Brown and Dr. Louise Tetrick. Their vision for this outdoor venue was to create a dynamic space that inspires creativity, fosters innovation, and strengthens the bond between the university and the Muncie community. A longtime supporter and alumnus of Ball State, Mr. Brown has consistently emphasized the importance of community engagement, envisioning the amphitheater as a gathering place for performances, events, and shared experiences. This project reflects the Brown family's enduring commitment to enriching campus life and providing resources that benefit both students and the broader community.
Located between Park and Pruis Halls and between Noyer and Woodworth Complexes, it adds to an already vibrant environment while enhancing the sense of place in an area of campus that contains several of the University’s housing facilities. This is the perfect spot for summer music festivals, student organizations, and other musical or theatrical events.
The amphitheater offers artists and audiences an impressive performance facility. In addition to a stage, the facility features dressing rooms, a green room, storage space, a control room, and a loading dock. The facility features a booth/mix station with a lightboard, soundboard, and more with a line of sight to the stage. There are elevated spotlights, distributed power throughout the venue, motors and truss lighting over the stage, and more.
