Our pre-engineering prep option is a five-year program of challenging courses.

You will attend Ball State for three years, then—as much as we hate to see you go—you will transfer to an engineering school to complete requirements for your engineering degree.

While you may have to leave us for a bit, the good news is once you finish the program, you will be eligible to receive a bachelor's degree from us in addition to the engineering degree. You are responsible for knowing and meeting our graduation requirements and the school to which you will transfer. You must also note that admission to Ball State as pre-engineering major does not guarantee admission to an accredited school of engineering.

Three options are available to our pre-engineering majors:
  • chemical
  • metallurgical
  • general (aeronautical, civil, electrical, industrial, mechanical, and nuclear engineering specializations)
