This page provides information about scheduling a tour of Christy Woods, the Rinard Orchid Greenhouse, and the Teaching & Research Greenhouse. If you are a prospective student interested in taking a general tour of the Ball State University campus, please visit the Visit Ball State page.
Guided tours are available for community and school groups of 10 people or more and must be scheduled using this online form. These tours are free and open to the public but need to be scheduled in advance.
Please note that all individuals and groups are welcome to visit Christy Woods on their own during our regular hours. For additional information, please contact Erica Forstater.
On selected Saturdays, tours are conducted in the following months:
- January features Greenhouse Tours
- April features Spring Wildflower Tours
- July features Prairie Tours
- October features Fall Tree Walks
These tours are free and open to the public.

Tours of both greenhouses, forest, prairie, and the small wetland areas are available to school groups, garden clubs, scout groups, etc. These tours are free, but need to be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance.

Christy Woods, an outdoor teaching laboratory for students on the Ball State University campus, is the only property open to the public for self-guided tours. Before visiting the property, please review our collection policy.
