The Women's Studies Program annually presents the following four awards:
Althea Stoeckel Award for Distinguished Service
Established in 1991, the Althea Stoeckel Award for Distinguished Service is given as a symbol of enduring friendship and a recognition of outstanding contributions toward the goals of the Women's Studies Program at Ball State University. It is awarded annually to a student, staff, faculty, administrator, or community member who has consistently made support of the Women's Studies Program a high priority. Potential award recipients are recommended by the Director of the Women's Studies Program. Each year the award recipient's name will be engraved on a perpetual plaque displayed in the Women's Studies office. Each recipient also will receive a plaque or other appropriate symbol that represents the spirit of the award. A cash or equivalent award is included in the Althea Stoeckel Award for Distinguished Service. Should there be more than one recipient, the cash award is to be divided evenly.Past Recipients:

Gender Equity Appreciation Award
Established in 1998, the Gender Equity Appreciation Award recognizes a campus unit for demonstrating significant commitment to the advancement of women through programs or services. Potential award recipients are recommended by the Director of the Women's Studies Program. Each year the award recipient's name will be engraved on a perpetual plaque displayed in the Women's Studies Program office. Each recipient will also receive a plaque or other appropriate symbol that represents the spirit of the award.Past Recipients:

Established in 2003, the Outstanding Activism Award recognizes outstanding contributions to activate change or improvement in women's lives. The recipient demonstrates excellence in and commitment to activism on the local, national, or international level.Past Recipients:

Outstanding Women's Studies Student Award
Established in 1999, the Outstanding Women's Studies Student Award recognizes outstanding achievement by a women's studies student. Demonstrated excellence in academic performance, campus activities, or community service is required of the award recipients.
Potential award recipients are recommended by the Director of the Women's Studies Program. Each year the award recipient's name will be engraved on a perpetual plaque displayed in the Women's Studies office. Each recipient also will receive a plaque or other appropriate symbol that represents the spirit of the award. A $50.00 cash or equivalent award is included in the Outstanding Women's Studies Student Award. Should there be more than one recipient, the cash award is to be divided evenly.Past Recipients:

Women's Studies Faculty Appreciation Award Established in 2005, the Women’s Studies Faculty Appreciation Award
recognizes a Ball State University faculty member or members for dedication to the academic goals of women’s studies and the commitment to
challenge students to “claim their education.”
