Mr. Moreland was in Company B, 745th Tank Battalion. This company had their tanks ashore on D-Day after the specialized DD tanks (equipped to "swim" ashore) were swamped and inoperative. Mr. Moreland was slightly wounded after the breakout at St. Lo. He rejoined the unit at Aachen and was involved in the fight for the Hurtgen Forest. He was wounded, again, on November 27, 1944.
