Project Care "Adopt A Soldier"

Details: The Hoosier Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross is seeking community support with a project for soldiers serving abroad. "Project Care" is an effort to link citizens of East Central Indiana and soldiers serving in Iraq. Persons participating are asked to commit to communicating at least twice a month with their Project Care adopted solider. Through this program we have already discovered that soldiers greatly appreciate receiving email, mail and care packages in the field as it provides a point of connection to home.

American Red Cross Responds to Multi-Family Apartment Fire

Details: The Hoosier Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross responded to a 30 unit apartment fire in the 300 Block of North Mulberry Street in Muncie. Red Cross Volunteers and staff were on site to provide support to emergency workers and to assist families by providing immediate disaster relief needs. An emergency shelter was also opened at the Red Cross office located at 325 E. Washington Street, Muncie to house and feed persons impacted by the fire.
Funding for disaster relief such as this fire is done completely through local donations from individuals, businesses and organizations. Details: From 3pm to 6pm at First United Methodist Church in Elwood located at North A and Anderson Street. At 2:45pm, a parade of kings, shepherds, camels, donkeys, and sheep will journey through downtown Elwood on Anderson St. from South B to the Church manger on North A street. After viewing activities outside, visitors are welcome to come inside for music, the reading of the Christmas story, displaying of nativity sets, refreshments and fellowship.

Christmas Extravaganza 2008

Details: Christmas Extravaganza 2008 presented by the Winchester Community High School Music Department will be held on Friday, December 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 7 at 3:00 p.m. in the Robert G. Jones Auditorium at Winchester Community High School. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under with all proceeds benefitting the Winchester Community High School Music Department. Poinsettias will also be available for purchase at both shows for $10 each.
Cookie and Candy Walk (sale)

Journey to Bethlehem
Date: December 12, 2008
Details: Parkview Church of the Nazarene will present Journey to Bethlehem from December 12th through the 14th. Roman Centurions will guide groups on this Journey through seven scenes. The entire church facility will be transformed into the town of Bethlehem during the time of Jesus' birth. There is no charge, donations will be accepted to offset the expense of this presentation. Tours will last 60-75 minutes and will begin at 6pm with groups departing every ten minutes through 8pm. Reservations are highly recommended, but not necessary.
