General Information

This application is for off-campus, undergraduate students only. It can only be used for taking off-campus classes. The application, application fee, and official transcripts must be received and processed before you can register for a class. A $25 non-refundable application fee must be submitted for every status except re-enroll. Checks should be made payable to Ball State University and mailed to the appropriate address listed at the end of this application. Or the fee can be paid via credit card at www.bsu.edu/distance. Please allow 4 weeks to process your admission materials. If transcripts arrive sooner, your application may be processed sooner. Incomplete admission materials are only held six months. After that time, students must re-submit materials.

Are you an On-campus or Off-campus Student?
If you are currently enrolled on-campus at BSU, you do not need this application. You can skip the application step and go directly to the course registration process. If you apply through off-campus admissions (SEE), you can only take off-campus classes. If you apply through on-campus admissions (main campus), you can take BOTH on- and off-campus classes.

Traditional Age Students and Students Planning to Take On-Campus Classes
Traditional age students under the age of 23 and living in the state of Indiana must submit an on-campus application unless you are re-enrolling, applying as a guest, or applying for the Fast Track program. Any student planning to take on-campus classes must apply through main admissions. For an on-campus application, call 1-800-482-4278 or go online at www.bsu.edu.

Graduate Students
If you hold a bachelors degree and plan to take graduate classes, you must fill out a graduate application. The graduate application can be found at www.bsu.edu/gradschool. The only exceptions are, if you are taking undergraduate off-campus courses, or seeking a 2nd undergraduate off-campus degree.

Regular

Students who intend to work toward a degree, even if they have not decided upon a specific major, may apply as regular students. Official transcripts from your high school (or GED scores) and any educational institutions attended since high school must be requested at the time this application is submitted. High school transcripts are only waived if you have earned an associates degree.

Re-Enrollment
(No fee required but need transcripts from any school attended since BSU.)
A re-enrollment application is to be completed by any undergraduate student who is inactive at Ball State University. Any student who was academically disqualified at BSU must contact the Office of Registration and Academic Progress at (765) 285-1722 for a reinstatement application. An official transcript will be required from any institution attended since leaving BSU.

Guest
(Requires $25 application fee and verification of good academic standing.)
A student currently enrolled in another post-secondary institution, must apply as a guest student. Your current institution must submit an official transcript that indicates that you are currently in good academic standing, or complete the verification box in the ?For Guest Students Only? section of this application.

Re-Application
(Requires $25 application fee and official transcripts if record is no longer on file).
Any student who has previously applied to BSU but never attended, was denied, or postponed their admission to the university, is considered a re-applicant. A ?regular? application, application fee, and official transcripts will be required if materials are no longer on file.

Second Undergraduate Degree
(Requires $25 application fee and all transcripts.)
Status is for any student seeking a second undergraduate degree or licensure UNRELATED to their current degree.

High School Special
(Requires $25 application fee except CTP students on free and reduced lunches.)
If you are NOT a participant of the College Transition Program (CTP), you may be asked for a letter of recommendation from your high school principal or guidance counselor.

Non-Degree
(Requires $25 application fee and official high school transcript or GED scores.)
A student who wishes to enroll for personal and professional development rather than in pursuit of a degree may apply as non-degree student, provided you are not currently enrolled in another institution or planning to take graduate level courses.

  Please note: Financial aid is not available to non-degree students. The maximum number of semester credits that non-degree students may earn in 31. Students in good academic standing at the conclusion of the semester in which they have completed 20 semester credits may apply for regular admission. If admitted, students will be eligible to pursue degrees.
