CapAsia III 'Build-Design-Build' 2003

Dr. Nihal Perera founded CapAsia in 1998. He serves as director; I am co-director. The 11-week immersive program provides a meaningful cross section of world architecture, urbanism, and planning, as undergraduate and graduate students focus on custom developed, collaborative projects in selected South Asian cities. No other US-based university offers a similar learning experience.

In Spring 2003, as part of CapAsia III, with faculty colleagues and 60 students from the University of Moratuwa in Sri Lanka, two pavilions were built in 10 days, using only scavenged materials.
