Emergency Phone List You can reach the Ball State University Police directly from a university phone by dialing either 911 or  5-1111. It's a good idea to memorize and use the  285-1111 number because dialing 911 from a cellular phone produces unpredictable results. Since different carriers route calls differently, your 911 call doesn't necessarily go to the nearest dispatcher, and this could delay response time in an emergency. A call to 911 from an off-campus, noncellular phone in the Muncie area or from a campus pay phone will connect you with the county's 911 dispatch system.
