Mission Statement for OGIS

Enhance the learning of the Office of Geographic Information Systems (OGIS) constituents and contribute to the common body of knowledge involving spatial data analysis and utilization.  The faculty and staff of the OGIS create applied research, internship and other opportunities for faculty, staff, and students and form alliances with organizations outside of the University.   The success of the Office of GIS comes from the quality training and consulting services provided.

Services Offered by OGIS

The OGIS offers the following services.

  • Offer GIS training by an ESRI authorized instructor. 
  • Explore partnerships with local and state government agencies and obtain GIS projects and internship opportunities for BSU faculty and students.
  • Provide strategic GIS planning consultation to interested local governments.
  • Form of a local GIS user group and host meetings for this group.
  • Host regional GIS conferences.
