Digital Data Services Mission Statement

Provide an entry-level point of departure into the use of technology in the classroom, and in the systems that support classroom activities. We take physical documents and convert them to digital form, provide academic evaluation and research support through the use of an optical scanner, and provide assistance in configuring media for use on the world-wide web.

Services Provided by Digital Data Services

Digital Data Services, also called Multimedia Services, was created to provide Ball State faculty and staff with digital output of traditional media sources. We can take your photographs, negatives, text, line art, compact discs, and video tape as input, and deliver output via zip disks, CDs, and via our web page.

Another service offered to Ball State instructors and offices is the collecting of data using an optical scanner.  Mostly used in testing situations, this service allows for data to be collected and organized in a fraction of the time it takes to process it manually.

When tests are scanned, the grade data can be directed to Web Gradebook upon request for further processing. Statistical reports are generated as a standard feature of this service.  We also provide the instructor with the option of producing individual reports for the students which list their answers as they compare to the test key and provide them with feedback on their testing efforts.

Survey or other study data is collected, then forwarded on for detailed statistical analysis by UCS Research and Design Services.  Or, if you choose to process your own data and are just interested in having it in electronic form, you may supply a CD or Zip disk, or we have the ability to send the data directly to your e-mail account, at your pleasure.
