Philosophy of Educational Leadership Philosophy of Athletic Directorship
The essence of my philosophy of education is to be of complete service to my students. Since I have a great desire to educate the youth of this country, I will always strive to serve them to the best of my ability. I plan to achieve this goal by portraying and establishing a commitment to learning, a motivation for learning, and an achievement by learning. My personal definition of education is being committed to apply the knowledge learned to one's life. As a lifelong educator, I want to pass on to my students the knowledge and experience which I have attained in both mathematics and life, so they will become mature adults that can think for themselves. I will accomplish this task by implementing behavioral and academic goals and objectives, by creating a daily method of instruction, and by evaluating each student's progress. The effectiveness of my motivation in the classroom is based on my enthusiasm and compassion I exhibit towards my students. Students will see from me a love for teaching, a commitment to excellence, and an honest and direct communication system. I also believe encouragement is essential in challenging students to reach their full potential. The success of my teaching and student achievement will be evaluated with the improvement and mastery of a variety of performance activities. In my instruction, I will not only develop the understanding for the mathematical proficiencies provided by the state of Indiana, but, also, enhance character qualities, such as self-esteem, discipline, and respect for other people. I want my students to feel that they have improved their skills in mathematics and their attitudes in life when they leave my classroom. In conclusion, I believe a great educational program must possess enthusiastic teachers who are committed to the progress of students and enjoys the many hours of preparation. I have dedicated myself to be an integral part of this program.
Educational administration is leading the faculty, staff, students, parents, and the local community towards excellence. Management and leadership are the two essential components in developing an excellent school corporation. Management involves the daily tasks of keeping the school running efficiently. Leadership involves influencing people to be productive. Since I have a passion for education, I will manage and lead with a student-based focus. As an administrator, I believe that I should possess the following characteristics: consistency, organization, cooperation, knowledge, enthusiasm, honesty, flexibility, and compassion. It is my goal to improve on these characteristics, so that I can help others learn and grow. I dedicate myself to lifelong learning through the experiences from interacting with students, parents, teachers, other colleagues, or the everyday experiences throughout life. The essence of my responsibilities is to effectively lead my school into the future. I will build a positive atmosphere in the school by modeling what I expect of others. I will let my staff try new teaching methods without fear of failure. I will be a visible entity within the school not just in the office. Establishing a positive rapport with the students and the staff will enable me to solve problems before they occur, rather than "putting out fires" all the time. Finally, I will strive to learn and to grow as an administrator throughout my career. In conclusion, an effective and successful educational administrator must be an expert in public relations, proactive planning, and facilitating leadership through staff in many realms. One must be adept in balancing all aspects within multiple tasks simultaneously, while focusing on the school's improvement plan and school's vision for the future. Throughout all of these expectations, I have dedicated myself to be a professional, ethical, and moral example to my teachers, students, and communities. I believe that administering a successful athletic program should provide all students the opportunity to enhance the quality of their health, both physical and mental, and their athletic abilities in a context greater and more varied than in the traditional classroom. I will develop a set of guidelines for ensuring that sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity characterize the manner in which the athletic program is conducted by actions of the coaches and the students who participate. In addition, I possess and consistently exhibit organizational, managerial, knowledgable and motivational qualities which assists in completing the expected responsibilities at a high standard of achievement. In my performance of these administrative responsibilities, I believe an athletic director greatly affects three types of people: the coaches, the students, and the community. First, I believe an effective athletic director considers him or herself to be "a coach of coaches." For all of my coaches, I need to be a facilitator of wisdom, improvement, encouragement, and perseverance. The greatest challenge and reward will be to implement and develop an entire coaching staff that is dedicated to improving each athlete's progress, following the school's policies, and positively representing their school to other schools and the community. Second, I believe the athletic director fosters the growth of school loyalty and enthusiasm within the student body by rewarding athletic participation. Also, I must meet the athlete's competitive nature and safety needs by advance planning of athletic events and by providing appropriate athletic fields, equipment, and uniforms. Third, I believe the athletic director should stimulate community interest in athletics. I will be successful in this area by creating and/or maintaining supportive booster clubs, innovative awards banquets, and positive media communication. In conclusion, I believe a great athletic program must possess a great leader who is committed to the progress of the athletes and enjoys the many hours of supervision. |
