I am a Technology Teacher Education Major
I want to get a good teaching job that will allow me
to use all of my capabilities as a teacher. I have many qualities that
will allow me to be a successful educator. Eventually I am going to
return to school to receive my Master’s Degree. I want my students
to look forward to coming to my class everyday. I want to be able to
excite them about technology, that way more and more students may get interested
in the course. I will make learning fun ,and put it to practical use
so that way it is more comprehensive. I not only have a job as an educator
to teach the students, but I also want to be someone they look up to outside
of class. I want to be a good role model for all my students.
They should know that I’m not only here for them for technology purposes,
but I’m also here for them to help them through life’s everyday problems.
My Teaching Philosopy
A teacher should provide an environment where students can develop new skills. Students should also be given the opportunity to grow and learn in a way that fits their needs. One of the most important parts of being a teacher, is being a role model to the students. Students need someone who they can look up to, and to be there for them in times of need. It is up to the teacher to be there for their students not only inside the classroom, but outside the classroom as well. A teacher must also be dedicated to their students. No matter what, the teacher should never give up on a student. Some students just need a little extra nurturing then others. If a student feels the teacher has given up on them, then they may just quit all together and feel incapable of doing anything correctly.
Another important part of the teaching/learning process is patience. Students will get in their share of trouble, they will not always pay attention in class, and the will be disruptive at times. Many of them basically push a teacher to the limit. As a teacher, patience will be required to deal with these issues on a daily basis. A teacher who is impatient will likely do or say things that they may regret at a later time. It is better to be patient and talk to the student one on one and maybe find out why the student is behaving in this manner.
A teacher must also be creative to help students on the path of learning. A teacher cannot come in everyday and lecture over and over again. Students will get bored of this very quickly. Once a student gets bored, they tend to shut their mind off and not pay attention to anything that the teacher is saying. The teacher must come into the classroom everyday with new ideas. This will help the students to enjoy learning. Students learn better if they are given fresh and exciting ideas on a daily basis.
A teacher must be understanding toward a student’s needs. Some students will learn at a much faster rate then others. It is up to the teacher to be able to recognize this, and be able to help all students as the need arises. It is up to the student whether or not they want to learn. Teachers cannot make a student learn. The student must make the decision to put the knowledge they have gained into action. A teacher must understand this and be prepared to motivate the students to learn.
Teachers must be vocal with their students. If a student is doing well, then the teacher needs to praise this child and let them know that they are doing well. This can also help to motivate the student to continue to do good in the future. If the student is doing poorly, then the teacher needs to let them know that they are doing unsatisfactory work and how it can be corrected and that he/she is there to help.
Overall, the most important thing in the teaching/learning process, is parent involvement. The teacher needs to let the parents know how their child is doing in school. Parents usually have the biggest impact on their child’s life. If the child sees that their parent(s) values education, then the child is more likely to value education themselves.
