Admissions Requirements

Required of All Applicants
  • Masters degree in science, science education, or related field from an accredited institution with a grade point average of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Outstanding promise as a teacher-scholar in science or science education, as demonstrated by success in previous college studies, test scores, and experience.
  • If you do not possess a masters degree, then apply to one of the eight departments involved in the doctoral programs. Upon completion of the masters in that department, you may apply to the doctoral program; and with careful planning, the masters coursework can be counted toward the doctorate.

Additional Requirement for Science Education Applicants
  • At least two years successful professional experience in teaching or the equivalent and teacher certification in field relevant to your intended major.
