Fire: Adding Multimedia
In Feng Shui air is used to symbolize thought and reflection. Incorpoating the element into your surrounds can promote clear thinking.
In web design, I apply air to the area of content organization. Sometimes the content of your website can be as difficult to hold on to air itself. You think you have a good plan for the content you would like to include and as you create pages this content seems to grow and expand to fill the available space and then some.
Getting a grip on what you need to cover can be difficult but there are some guidelines that can help.
1. Get organized: Accumulate all of the potential content for your site in one place. Having your content at hand as you build your pages will make the process more efficient.
2. Think of your purpose: Keep focused on the purpose of your site at all times. Thinking of your audience and their needs will help you anticipate what content you need to include and what you can set aside for later projects.
3. Make an outline: Create some kind of diagram to help you envision the heirarchy of your content. Organize information into main headings and subheadings. This will not only help you organize the content of each page but should help when you create links between ideas.
4. Make your content digital: Having your content typed up in Word documents and ready to pour into the web design program of your choice will make your work quick.
