Adding Links in FrontPage

One of the most important elements of any webpage is its navigation. Users should be able to easily tell

how to get around on your site and how to visit other pages that you reccomend. Adding links is straight

forward whether they link to other pages on your site or pages on the internet.

1. First, decide where you'd like your links to be placed. Any text can be converted into a link.

The navigation on this page is simply a bulleted list of items each linking to a seperate page.

2. Highlight the text you'd like to make into a link.

3. Right click on the highlighted text and a select Hyperlink from the dropdown list.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. The text you highlighted will appear here. This is the text that will appear as a link. If you change the text here it will also change on your page.
  2. Click this button (Existing File or Web Page) if you'd like the link to go to a page that you've already created. Then the center, white part of the menu will allow you to navigate to the page on your computer.
  3. Click this button (Place in This Document) if you'd like to link to a place on the same page. This is useful for creating indexes or links to footnotes.
  4. This button (Create New Document) allows you to make a link to a page that doesn't exist yet. Clicking this button will open a new page that you can then name and save to create the link.
  5. If you'd like people to be able to click on a link and send you an email click this button (E-mail Address) and enter the email address you would like messeges sent to.
  6. If the page you'd like to link to exists outside your site and you know the address you can type it into this box. Be sure to include the http:// in front of the address and avoid any spaces or extra characters after then end of the address.
  7. If you'd llike to link to a page outside your site but you don't know the address, click on this globe button to open a browser window and navigate to the site. The various addresses you visit to arrive at the site will appear in the address box. When the address of the page you'd like to link to is in the box click the OK button.
