Exam Schedule (Tentative)

Exam I will be Wed. 2-20-08 in class over Excel
The material will include everything up to and including Lecture 7 and HW 5.
It will not include Lecture 8 and the Solver function.
The list of Terms and Features Of Excel provides a good look at most of the items you will need to know and/or have facility with for the exam.  On the exam you will be allowed one 8.5"x11" cheat sheet of personal notes.  You will also be allowed to use the help files within Excel, but you will not be allowed to access other materials such as old HW, class lectures, or class notes.

Exam II will be Wed. 4-2-08 in class over Mathematica
The material will include everything up to and including the "Which" function in Lecture 17 and Lab 5.  The part of Lecture 17 after the "Which" function will not be on the exam.
On the exam you will be allowed one 8.5"x11" cheat sheet of personal notes.  You will also be allowed to use the help files within Mathematica, but you will not be allowed to access other materials such as old HW, class lectures, or class notes.

    Exam III will be Wed. 4-23-08 in class over Matlab

The Final Exam time is 2:15 to 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 and will be used for the Final Project Presentations.  No "exam" will be given.
        

Course Material

• All homework should be written up neatly and with full explanation of the work. Remember, the right answer is only part of the solution. You need justification for the rest. You should write in full sentences with words when appropriate.
• When quizzes are given, they will be given at the beginning of class.

  Read the Mathematica 5.2 Tutorial (by clicking on "Ten-minute Tutorial" inside the Welcome to Mathematica 5.2 startup palette that appears when Mathematica is opened or by finding it under the Help menu)  and electronically turn in a copy of ten things you learn about Mathematica from the Tutorial.

Final Group Projects

The projects will consist of writing a report and giving a talk on a particular topic. These projects will constitute 15 % of your final grade.  Talks will be given the week of April 14.  There will be 4 projects on the following topics
