MODEL CAR

LEARNING THE DIFFERENT PARTS

AND

HOW THEY GO TOGETHER

STARTING OUT:

Starting out with the car I first opened the box and looked at all the different pieces that would have to be put together.  When looking at the parts made me wonder because I have never put together a model car before.  Not only never putting together a model car before, also I have never work on a car before.

PAINTING THE DIFFERENT PARTS:

With the beginning of the car, the directions had to be read because I had no clue what was going on.  The first thing that had to be done was to paint the different parts of the engine.  I am still not sure if you were to paint all the different pieces at the same time.  But I painted the parts as I went along, but I wish I paint all the pieces at the same time because at times the paint was still wet and then it had to be repainted.

ASSEMBLY OF THE ENGINE:

When learning about the assembly of the engine took place there was good directions.  The directions named out the name of the part so I learned were the different parts of an engine are place.  Also the directions helped myself learn where order these parts are placed in when they are going down an assembly line.

ASSEMBLY OF THE FRAME:

When learning about how a frame goes together was a difficult challenge because I could not see were the welds were put on the car and roll bar.  Also with all the extra support inside the car was very interesting because I do not watch NASCAR.  I know that the cars had a lot of extra structure but did not realize how much was around the driver.

ASSEMBLY OF THE TRANSMITION TO ENGINE AND WHEEL ASSEMBLY:

When assembling the engine to the transmition was difficult.  When doing this I realized that it would take a great amount of time and effort, because this part took myself some time to get these deferent parts to line up correctly.  The wheels were very easy to get assembled.  I did realized that the wheels of a car had so much different organization that goes into the design of the wheel well.

FINIAL PAINT AND DECALS:

With the finial paint job was the very last part of the assembly of the car.  When the decals were put onto the car this was the most time consuming part of the car.  I could tell that the people putting these big and little details on the car would take a lot of time and effort.

This NASCAR demonstrated the following technical systems:

Propulsion- Mechanical driven, the engine

Suspension- The wheels

Support- Driver

Structure- Frame

Guidance- On-board, instrumentation, communications, and automated systems    Off-board, communication

Control- Areas of control velocity, directional control    Methods of control, controlling the vehicle-steering wheels, and roadways
