     What does Eastman Kodak provide?  According to Yahoo Finance, Eastman Kodak "is engaged primarily in developing, manufacturing and marketing imaging products and services."  In fact, the company is divided into four main segments: Consumer Imaging, Kodak Professional, Health Professional, and a segment known as Other Imaging.  Consumer Imaging deals with the film, cameras, digitization and photo processing services provided to consumers as well as the paper, chemicals and photo processing equipment used by those who develop the film.  The Kodak Professional segment collects revenues from the sales of film, paper, chemicals, and digital cameras and graphics film products that are sold to the Kodak Polychrome Graphics joint venture.  The Health Imaging segment focuses on medical film and processing equipment. the Other Imaging segment deals with motion pictures, printers, scanner, software, and other related equipment.

  • Is there evidence of horizontal integration?  Yes, Kodak's different segments show us that Kodak exists in the consumer industry of cameras, motion pictures film, x-ray film, and even computer software.
  • Does globalization exist within the company?  Evidence of globalization certainly exists.  Kodak has interests and operates in over 30 different countries, including the Americas, Europe, and the Asia/Pacific area.
  • Is media synergy an issue?  Absolutely, Kodak works with Ofoto and ENCAD to supply consumers with the best possible services and products.  The companys also work together to create an enhanced effect through their combined efforts.
