Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management
Graduate Program
If you are interested in pursuing a Graduate Degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Management, you can develop customized programs based on your educational and employment objectives.  Our graduate students, both in the United States and abroad, have obtained careers in a wide variety of governmental and private sector jobs.

As a graduate student, you can choose from a M.S. or M.A. degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Management.

  • Both programs require a minimum of 33 credit hours of course work
  • Graduate Research Methodology (NREM 608)
  • Seminar (NREM 609).

To apply, you must apply to both the department and to the Graduate School. Before registering for courses as a new M.S. and M.A. student, you will also consult with Dr. James Eflin (jeflin1@bsu.edu), who serves as graduate student advisor.

Candidates for the M.A. and M.S. degrees will have slightly different program requirements. Students enrolling in the M.A. degree program complete a Research Paper/Creative Project and M.S. degree students will complete a thesis.

If you are interested in pursuing a doctorate, The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management can serve as a major or cognate for students enrolled in the Doctor of Education degree program (Ed.D).  To find out more on Ball State University's Ed.
