• Due to the vast technological advances in multimedia, entertainment has soared to higher levels.

• News

• The speed at which information is presented has increased greatly which increases our ability to keep informed with all the late breaking stories and the depth at which they are reported.

• Education

• Multimedia has improved the quality of education since the advent of the CD-ROM. This allowed students to partake in interactive learning where they chose the topic and experienced an audio/video presentation on that topic. This is definitely a far more entertaining initiative than the traditional lecture or overhead projector.

   
    Disadvantages of Multimedia

• Multimedia has made vast technological advances since its beginning. Even today, improvements are being made constantly to achieve perfection. Newer products come out to replace the old ones, or other brand new products come out that eventually make the others obsolete. Sometimes its hard to keep up with the continually improving technology which sometimes makes technological advances a disadvantage. This also leads to the next disadvantage.

• Expenses

•  Since we sometimes feel obligated to keep up with technology, we spend a large amount of money trying to stay updated with the latest and greatest in multimedia.

      
    Overall, I believe multimedia is a great advantage. Granted, there are always new products being released making it difficult, sometimes, to stay updated, but just think of where communication would be today if it was not for multimedia.
