PUBLIC HISTORY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Midterm Report Guidelines
The intern's five-page Report should be double-spaced, paginated,
formatted in a 12-point font, and feature a one-inch margin all around.
At the top of the first page list your name, the course number and
section number [History 300/ -369, section -003/-004] the date, the
name of the assignment [Midterm Report], and the name of your internship
site.
Your Midterm Report should address the following points:
1) Provide a *brief* narrative description of your overall internship
activities; keep the focus on what specifically you have learned about
the practice of history in a public, non-academic setting.
2) Articulate how the knowledge or skills you are acquiring in the
internship fit in with your educational, career, and life goals.
3) Identify specific skills and concepts you learned in your University
history curriculum that you have been able to draw on and apply at the
internship site, especially including Hist. 240, 320, and 445.
4) Discuss the impact the internship has had on your values, ethics, and
interpersonal skills to date.
5) Comment on what you have found to be the most positive or satisfying
aspects of the internship experience to date.
6) Assess the limitations or any negative aspects of the internship to
date.
7) Suggest what additional concrete ways the a) internship site, b) site
staff (including your site supervisor), and c) your academic supervisor
could help provide you with a more meaningful experience during the
second half of your internship.
8) Identify specific things you yourself can do that would enhance your
learning experience during the second half of your internship.
