Crosstabs and Measures of Association

To run a bivariate table in SPSS:

From the Analyze pull down menu

Select Descriptive Statistics

Select Crosstabs

Highlight and Click the arrow to move the dependent variable into the Rows box

Highlight and Click the arrow to move the independent variable into the Columns box

To have SPSS add percents to your table

Click the Cells box

Select the information that you would like SPSS to add to the cells of your table

Column percents most helpful in establishing whether two variables are related

To have SPSS calculate various statistics

Click the Statistics box

Select the statistics you would like SPSS to calculate for you
