NETS Standards used in EDTEC 320 Projects

This project relates to the NETS Standard #5:  "Productivity and Professional Practice."  This standard explains that that teachers should apply technology to increase productivity, which is true when using Microsoft Excel.  Teachers can make a spreadsheet to be used a gradebook to quickly calculate students' grades.  That is what this project is based on.

This project relates to the NETS Standard #5:  "Productivity and Professional Practice."   This standard says that teachers should use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.  Ball State University requires elementary education majors to create a digital portfolio to keep track of all the work students have done.  These pre-professional portfolios show progress through the elementary education program.  A digital portfolio also demonstrates NETS Standard #1:  "Technology Operations and Concepts," where future teachers demonstrate a sound understanding of technology operations and concepts.  It shows that these future educators are computer and technology literate.

This project relates to the NETS Standard #4:  "Assessment and Evaluation."  This standard states that a teacher should use technology to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning.  My software evaluation project demonstrates this because we had to find a piece of software and analyze it to see if it was really worthy of being used in class.  This is to make sure that software will help students learn and not just play around with no educational value.

This project relates to the NETS Standard #2:  "Planning and Designing Learning Environments and Experiences."  This standard states that teachers should plan and design effective learning environments and experiences supported by technology.  In our Hyperstudio project, we were required to create a stack to be used to effectively teach a lesson.  This project also relates to NETS Standard #4:  "Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum" stating that teachers should manage student learning activities in a technology-enhanced environment.  The Hyperstudio project did this by having students use the Hyperstudio stack themselves.  Students can go through the lesson at their own pace and complete activities included within the stack created by the teacher.
