EVALUATION OF THE CALCULUS PRESENTATION
The faculty committee will use a 4-level rubric
to evaluate the calculus presentations. Each faculty committee member
will use the rubric to rate components of the presentation and will give
an overall rating. The ratings from each of the three faculty committee
members will be compiled and presented to students as a single report.
Student presentations will receive one of four overall ratings:
Distinguished: Students who receive
a rating of distinguished have passed the presentation.
Proficient: Students who receive a rating
of proficient have passed the presentation.
Basic: The faculty committee will determine
whether a student who receives a basic rating must give a revised presentation
(using the same topic and taking into account the feedback of the committee)
or will “pass” the presentation with a basic rating.
Unsatisfactory: Students who receive
an unsatisfactory rating have not passed the presentation and must prepare
and give another presentation. The new presentation can be either a
substantial revision using the same topic or a new presentation on a different
topic.
