Standard 1- Knowledge of Curriculum and Classroom

  1. Design a student centered curriculum and reflects students as continuous learners
  2. Construct lesson plans that cover multiple facets of journalistic writing
  3. Ensure that students understand their rights and responsibilities in their role as information gatekeepers

Standard 4 - Knowledge of Instructional Environment

  1. Create classrooms that encourage active participation in learning communities
  2. Help students understand their role as disseminators of information and their rights as journalists and media consumers
  3. Employ and model the use of technology as an essential component of learning
  4. Use various avenues to encourage students to take responsibility for their learning and production of media

  1. Respond effectively and constructively on an on-going basis to student's work
  2. Interpret and report assessment methods and results to students, administrators, parents, and the public
  3. Guide students in learning to assess their own growth
