Philosophy of Education

My philosophy of education consists of the fact that all students learn differently and achieve at different rates.  I believe that classrooms must be organized to deal with students who have learning disabilities, those who are gifted, students of all different races and cultures, along with all of the different learning styles that students possess.  Teachers need to understand how to effectively handle each of these diverse issue, along with many others, in order to address them in their own classrooms.  I believe that classrooms need to be havens of learning with students as active participants in this process.  It is essential that teachers step out of the assign and tell role and make their classrooms interactive, flexible, and student centered.  Different activities and forms of assessment should be given to students to allow them varied areas in which to achieve.  I believe that teachers can have a profound impact on the life of a student and in turn a student can have an even more profound impact on the life of a teacher.
