This graph shows the influx of the poverty rates from the years of 1959 and 2001. In the nineties the number in poverty was almost as high as in 1959. Since then we have seen a small decline, however. This graph also indicates the various recessions our nation has experienced and how that effects the poverty rate.
In this graph you c an see that the number of people eighteen and older in poverty is declining. However, the number of kids under the age of eighteen that are living within poverty has stayed somewhat steady.
