Indiana Technology Education Curriculum Standards:

Standard #2 - Understand technology as a global system to improve, manage, and control the natural and human-made environments.

Transportation Systems:

2. Identify ways that transportation systems extend the ability of people to move themselves and their cargo.

Standard #3- Describe technology as it is applied in the context of communication, construction, manufacturing, transportation, and related technologies.

Transportation Systems:

1. Build a flow chart of inputs, processes, and outputs of a given system.

3. Build a model of a given vehicle or other transportation system and explain its evolution and impacts on society.

Standard #4- Work cooperatevely and productively in groups to design and use technology to solve technological problems.

Transportation Systems:

1. Work in a group to test the effects of boat hull design on speed of travel.

Standard #11- Efficiently use appropriate processes to produce communication, construction, manufacturing, transportation, and related devices and systems.

Transportation Systems:

1. Identify the components of a transportation system.

1. Build and test a water, air, or space vehicle.

2. Test a control system to guide a vehicle.

4. Select and test a propulsion system for a simple vehicle.

2. Analyze and select the best mode of tranportation for a specific type of trip.

Standard 1: Students will develop an understanding of the characteristics and scope of technology.

Standard 2: Students will develop an understanding of the core concepts of technology.

Technology and Society:

Standard 5: Students will develop an understanding of the effects of technology on the environment.

The Designed World:

Standard 17: Students will develop an understanding of and be able to select and use information and communication technologies.

Standard 18: Students will develop an understanding of and be able to select and use transportation technologies.

Nets for Teahers

I. Technology Operations and Concepts- Teachers demonstrate a sound understanding of technology operations and concepts.

III. Teaching, Learning, and the Curriculum- Teachers implement curriculum plans that include methods and strategies for applying technology to maximize student learning.

V. Productivity and Professional Practice- Teachers use technology to enhance their productivity and professional practice.
