Printmaking

Printmaking is a new addition to the art courses at Union as of last year.  We continuously strive to keep the class offering fresh by exploring new media.  While we did some printmaking in a limited fashion in 2d Design prior to last year, I felt that it would make an excellent semester course.  Judging from our performance in the county high school art show last year (in which students received the gold, silver and bronze medals, as well as 5 honorable mentions) the addition of the course was a success. The students work in a variety of methods during the semester.  They produce prints in monotype, linocut, drypoint and aquatint.  I enjoy all of these methods and each requires something different from the students in regards to imagery, technique and method of production.
